Biobartemius crouch jr AGE/BIRTHDATE: August 17th, 1961 HOUSE/YEAR: Slytherin 5th Year BLOODLINE: Pureblood WAND: Chestnut and dragon heart-string, 9 1/2 inches PET: A ratty old owl named The Kraken BOGGART: A dark, enclosed space PATRONUS: A giant spider Barty was born to Bartemius and Bernadette Crouch on August 17th, 1961. He was quite small as a child, but he made up for it, considering how loud and boisterous he was. He was an only child, and often felt bored in his house, as he did not get along well with the neighbourhood children. He passed his time by playing with insects and torturing small animals, something his parents found quite disturbing. He spent some time seeing 'professionals', as his parents called them, but none of them helped any, and were often scared off by the disturbed young boy. Growing up, Barty's father was not around much, as he was always off working for the Ministry and attending to various other social calls, so Barty never really got a chance to know him. He was always much closer to his mother, and despite his rebellious ways, he would try to behave for her. Bernadette was a kind, gentle woman, and always tried to help her son stay out of trouble, though she failed more often than she succeeded. Barty always felt like his father constantly disapproved of him, but as he got older, he learned to ignore this and began not caring one bit what his father thought. Acting out against the rules of his father became a favourite past time, and he was often scolded for stealing, lying, beating up on the Muggle children, and just generally being a delinquent. Barty Sr made attempts at instilling a better sense of character into his son, but he was not home enough, and eventually found the boy to be a hopeless cause. Barty's mother got him an owl when he was 9, in order to try and give him some sort of companionship. He wanted nothing to do with the animal, at first, and did not even name it, but it turned out the thing had a demeanour almost as mean as Barty's, and would often peck and bite at those he did not like. Barty decided to keep the pet, and named him The Kraken, after his favourite sea beast. When he started at Hogwarts, Barty assumed he was going to be placed in Ravenclaw, like his parents, but was pleasantly surprised when he was sorted into Slytherin, something he found to be far better. He soon became friends Regulus Black (a fact that his parents found to be slightly shocking, but not entirely unwelcome). |
personality Barty is loud, slightly obnoxious, entirely boisterous, and often times far sweeter than even he realises he is. He gets in trouble a lot, as he doesn't really care to follow rules that limit the things he can do. The majority of the time, he just likes to have fun and do his own thing, and even though he can come off as rude and annoying and over the top, he's a very social boy and gets along with a good majority of the people he meets. He does have a temper, though, and should somebody piss him off, it's rare that they'll ever be able to make themselves good in his eyes again. Barty can be crude and violent, especially when his ill-mannered owl is involved. While he is generally a bit too truthful for his own good, Barty is extremely good at lying, and any lie he does tell may as well be the truth, especially in his own mind. |
appearance Barty is 5'9" and weighs about 110 pounds. He is lean, slightly muscled, and a bit underweight, but he has always been that way. He looks quite a deal more like his mother than he does his father, having blond hair, fair, freckly skin, and blue eyes.
